Album tracklist
  • 1.
    A Soldiers Psalm-Main Track-
    02:30
[SCORE: A Soldier's Psalm] [Solo Voice Full orchestra. Elegiac Proud & Positive] The cut starts elegiac: a solo child's voice that suggests sadness and loss. Swelling waves of orchestral / choral begin @:29, receding back to a simple brass statement of the main theme @:47. @1:11 a, swelling choral reiteration of the theme gives a greater sense of compassion; but by 1:30, marching / military snares create a positive, political / military variation of the theme, only to return to a more human / compassionate feel by 1:58.
  • 2.
    Ambush-Main Track-
    01:24
[SCORE: A Soldier's Psalm] [Action, Tension] Aggressive, frenetic action. Tense hits and dissonant string pads leads to all Hell breaking loose @:09 as frantic strings, stabbing brass and percussion give the sense of a chase or surprise-filled confusion. The cut builds to a climax @:41 where a brass / string-driven minor key version of the main theme enters. Another dissonant climax hits @1:09 as the frenetic activity winds down, ending with a hit @1:19.
  • 3.
    Quietus-Main Track-
    02:11
[SCORE: A Soldier's Psalm] [Reflective, Compassionate] Softer, delicate / reflective cut for sad aftermaths or remembering a difficult past. Brass variations of the theme sound over suspended string pads. A minor-key reiteration of the main theme enters @:58, adding chorus @1:09 and reaching a few emotional fake-out climaxes @1:24 and 1:35. Piano and swelling strings begin building to a subtle emotional afterwash / resolution @1:57.
  • 4.
    Trumpet Call-Main Track-
    00:40
[SCORE: A Soldier's Psalm] [(Solo Trumpet) Gentle / Sad, Memorial] A solo trumpet states the theme, creating a feeling of both loss and hope. Useful for replacing the oft overused "Taps," which we did not write and therefore do not receive royalties on.
  • 5.
    Lamentation-Main Track-
    01:47
[SCORE: A Soldier's Psalm] [Romantic, Emotional / Sense of Loss] This piece recalls early 40's film scores as created with modern voicings and techniques: washes of tremolando strings behind vocal pads, woodwinds and brass to create a sad feeling punctuated by moments of resolute pride (@:43, for example). Reverbed vocals @:56 give a chilling sense of loss and add a tinge of eeriness, which is dissipated by a positive / hopeful resolve starting @1:11.
  • 6.
    Medal of Honor-Main Track-
    01:57
[SCORE: A Soldier's Psalm] [Full Orchestra, Snare Drums & Choir. Positive Proud] Positive / resolute cut that uses full orchestra, choir and a battery of snares to suggest pride, strength and an uplifting resolution. The first half features more soft-spoken pride with woodwind / string iterations of the theme, building to 1:01, where a stronger, movement-filled, more testosterone-laden version features prominent brass and choir, building to an overwhelmingly positive Jerry ending, starting @1:42. Great for political spots, Veteran's Day or respectful remembrance.
  • 7.
    Photographic Epilogue-Main Track-
    01:55
[SCORE: A Soldier's Psalm] [Solo Piano / Strings. Heartwarming, Intimate, Reflective] Solo piano reiterates the theme over gentle strings at a slower tempo. Great for emotional reunions, and looking back at sad times while suggesting that hope is never too far away.
  • 8.
    Vicious Vigor-Main Track-
    01:25
[SCORE: The Gola Incident] [Fast-paced Action / Suspense] Intense stop / start action. Fast tempoed and furious from the first note, this is frantic chase music, kicked off by a series of builds. The first :30 is a hit-filled maelstrom of brass, fast string lines, ominous choir swells, orchestral percussion and other mayhem that pauses briefly @:14, returns to craziness @:19 and then climaxes @:29. The world's longest tension build starts @:34 featuring metal / percussion hits, culminating in a brass / percussion bed @:55. Builds in tenor and pitch, until a fake-out climax @1:15, followed by resolving, editable final hits @1:18.
  • 9.
    Mystic Woman-Main Track-
    02:18
[SCORE: The Gola Incident] [Mystery Light Tension] A cut in three parts. FIRST: Haunting, unsettling cut that uses a full string section, various electronic / ethnic percussion and a mournful, Gothic / Elfman-esque woman's lead vocal giving an air of mystery and loss. SECOND: @:49 the mix thins and a glockenspiel creates a child-like (but yet still threatening) bed against ebbing and flowing orchestral strings, suggesting innocence lost, slight creepiness or evil children. THIRD: @1:37, the strings and percussion take over with a decisive, driving bed that gives the cut an investigative / tense feel that builds to the end.
  • 10.
    Preparation-Main Track-
    02:37
[SCORE: The Gola Incident] [(Full Electric Guitar) Tension, Suspense] Suspenseful, news-meets-movie-trailer-ish cut that features a clock-like motif. Percussive "ticking" starts the cut, allowing strings, percussion hits and waterphone squeaks to be punctuated by tension-inducing pentatonic brass swells and percussive stabs littered throughout the first :42. A ney (Middle Eastern wind instrument) enters @:44, giving the cut a feel of mysticism / worldliness, as an insistent rhythm builds in intensity (with electric guitar entering @1:14) until a slamming climax @1:30 provides a brief atmospheric pause, returning to the full, driving mix @1:58.
  • 11.
    Dead Animals-Main Track-
    02:47
[SCORE: The Gola Incident] [Creepily Mysterious Positive Tense] An atmospheric, slower-tempoed cut that spans two emotions: Part One is CREEPY, using ethnic stringed instruments, wind-like sound design, high orchestral strings, delayed metallic percussion and radio transmissions. A crescendo @:40 introduces Part Two: a REDEMPTIVE / POSITIVE section, using choir, brass, strings and synth bass to suggest that you shouldn't be afraid of the dark and should be proud that you have overcome your fears - only to find the CREEPY section returning @1:44, when you discover that there IS something out there in the dark.
  • 12.
    The Gola Incident-Main Track-
    02:18
[SCORE: The Gola Incident] [Mysterious / Suspenseful / Light Action] The cut opens with strings / male vocal performing the main theme as the mood slowly builds to a movement-filled, climactic drum bed @:30. The mood ebbs as a simple, neutral string bed replaces the percussion @:44, growing more positive @:59. The mood changes abruptly @1:14, as an investigative, mysterious, light drama feel enters, with electronic percussion creating an undercurrent of tension - allowing a full mix / main theme to return @1:44 (with no vocal). Good for show opens, hard news, investigations, light action and any looks into international crises.
  • 13.
    Love by Accident-Main Track-
    02:16
[SCORE: Love By Accident] [Quirky / Sophisticated / Cartoonish] From the first trumpet-provided horse whinny, you know this cut is fun. A Jazz / Big Band-ish, suspenseful build @:05 featuring walking acoustic bass, xylophone and hi-hat slowly adds wind / muted brass instruments until the fast-tempoed groove starts @:22. A pause @:47 provides a series of staccato sax / muted brass hits. A walking bass / hi-hat solo @1:20 builds into a trumpet solo break @1:37, building back to the full mix @1:45 - ending with a "tick-tock" pause @2:10 before the final hit. Great for sports blooper reels, giving the impression of controlled chaos (like shopping sprees) or comedies.
  • 14.
    Failed Seduction-Main Track-
    02:13
[SCORE: Love By Accident] [Stereotypically Sexy Lounge] Inept bachelor seduction music. Slower, more seductive feel as acoustic bass and wah-wahed electric guitar starts out the mood as a spare and sensual bed. More instruments enter, giving the piece a Latin Mambo feel. A percussion break starts @:48, leading to a more driving, determined pounding, unrelenting timpani, organ and busy muted trumpet @1:05. @1:30 the build climaxes, pauses and then returns to a sparer version of the cue's open.
  • 15.
    Running Away-Main Track-
    00:38
[SCORE: Love By Accident] [Fast-paced Jazzy Double Drumming] Swing-like drum solo accompanied by small percussion. Pauses briefly @:21 for a clock-like "ticking" break, then returns to the groove @:24. Great for light action, sports and comedies.
  • 16.
    Plotting the Confrontation-Main Track-
    02:20
[SCORE: Love By Accident] [Intrigue / Mystery / Action] Lighter, more 60's Swing / Jazz-influenced cut, replete with walking acoustic bass, flute / clarinet / xylophone lead and acoustic drums that starts spare, feeling like an alternate Jazz theme for a show about slightly stupid, more clumsy agents. @:38 the drums get bigger and more driving, creating a cut great for light activity or sped-up footage. @1:46 a brief climbing flute figure leads to a drum solo @1:53 -giving the piece a little frenetic and cartoonish ending as the tension builds with two hits: one @2:11 and the final one @2:14.
  • 17.
Get Out of My Pants-Main Track-
    00:25
[SCORE: Love By Accident] [Funny Percussion] Easily editable / loopable Latin percussion bed that can be used to denote the passage of time or that they just asked the final Jeopardy question in Mexico. Random hits / events provide accents for visual cues.
  • 18.
    Stripper Attack-Main Track-
    00:24
[SCORE: Love By Accident] [Obvious Stripper Music] Trouble's coming - but it's kind of silly. Trilling clarinet leads to a pulsing acoustic bass, wah-wah electric guitar, staccato saxes and bawdy plunger-muted trumpet build to a climax that suggests that an army of pole dancers are advancing on your home, where they will lap dance you to death.
  • 19.
    Reflective Reflection-Main Track-
    01:36
[SCORE: Love By Accident] [Introspective Moody Jazz] Slow, atmospheric and spare Jazz track that uses solo trumpet accompanied by subtle, electric piano, acoustic piano and acoustic drums. Very sad and moody until 1:20 when brushed drum and walking bass create a brightly contrasting mood as shuffling drums and piano convince us to get moving.
  • 20.
    Fight of the Losers-Main Track-
    02:15
[SCORE: Love By Accident] [Cartoony Chase Music] Two explosive iterations of the theme separated by a growing bed of percussion. The cut starts with a build from xylophone and plunger wahed trumpet to a full, active mix that suggests a cartoon-ish chase that climaxes @:34. The middle section offers a hi-hat / acoustic bass driven, beddy section that uses wood block "ticking," small hand percussion and reverbed grunting (@1:26). We slowly build back to the main "chase" theme again @1:28, with overblown winds, whinnying trumpets and a chaotic, hit-filled ending. Great for comedies and suggesting time passing.
  • 21.
One Bed Leads to Three-Main Track-
    02:11
[SCORE: Love By Accident] [Swing Jazz Comedy] Driving, aggressive-but-fun positive fast tempoed Swing / Jazz romp that sounds like an overly caffeinated late night show theme. Starting with a full mix of drums, horns, and walking acoustic bass that thins down to drums @:12 and adds walking bass, occasional piano / organ hits and xylophone as it builds to big drum / piano break @:51, allowing various instruments to "solo" as it makes its way back to the pounding Gene Krupa-esque full mix climax @1:52. Good for comedies or suggesting light activity.
  • 22.
    Wedding Altercation-Main Track-
    00:47
[SCORE: Love By Accident] [Uptempo Jazzy Wedding] Expecting a wedding to go horribly wrong? Starting with a drum break, this cut gives us a fast Swing / Jazz version of Mendelssohn's Wedding recessional that, besides ending on a sour note, @:14 builds into a chaotic, frantic, cartoony rendition of the main theme, with a hit-filled ending that starts @:36. Great for fun weddings - especially ones that end in pie fights.
  • 23.
    The Plant-Main Track-
    01:56
[SCORE: Life Is Chaos] [Building Drama / Suspense] A simple idea that grows into a complex web of rhythm / melody, building dramatic tension without succumbing to chaos. Starts as seemingly random mid-tempo electronic pulses against French horn pads that form a pattern. The pattern grows more complex by adding cellos @:17, which add another pattern in a 5/4 time signature. @:40 violins and violas enter with a 4/4 melody, adding complexity - further emboldened by trumpets @1:02 - all building to the climactic entrance of Egyptian hand percussion and a distinctly Middle Eastern melodic orchestral string theme, both in @1:24. Good for news, documentaries and for a mathematic, minimalist-like feel.
  • 24.
    Uranium 235-Main Track-
    01:50
[SCORE: Life Is Chaos] [Spare Complex Neutral Bed Tension Sad / Hopeful Aftermath] Intelligent, newsy musical interpretation of the intertwining of technology and humanity. A staccato, faster tempoed, hypnotizing, clock-like feel (in 6/4 and 5/4 meters, for all you music majors out there) performed by strings, piano (in @:08) and electronic pulses (in @:31). @:46 the bed climaxes into a driving, tense bed punctuated by percussive / orchestral stabs that give the impression of activity and action. A climax @1:02 lets the music subside into a shifting, calming bed of strings and gentle clock-like piano octaves, giving the listener a sense of danger avoided and all is safe.
  • 25.
    Returning Home-Main Track-
    00:52
[SCORE: Life Is Chaos] [Sad / Reflective] A man returns to the home where his parents died. Slower, swelling strings, piano and harp create a poignant, warm cut appropriate for moments of loss and emotional reunions. @:21 the feeling takes a positive turn, reinforcing a sense of hope and tenderness. Good for lost pets, and high emotional drama (soap opera-esque without the stupidity).
  • 26.
    The Take-Main Track-
    02:57
[SCORE: Life Is Chaos] [Active, Tense Percussion Action Somber Aftermath] Ethnic action cut, giving the impression of intrigue, military urgency and mathematical precision. The cut starts with a bed of fast-tempo Middle Eastern hand percussion and military snares, that opens into a very ney-sounding soprano sax solo @:08, then builds to a slam @:29. @:36 the bed continues, building in tenor and pitch with brass / string pads. @:1:30 the piece climaxes again, this time bursting into a chase-like feel, with marCato (ASCAP) strings and low piano trading off a driving bassline that builds to 2:11, where gentle clock-like piano octaves and beds of string harmonics provide an eerily still aftermath.
  • 27.
    A Moment of Clarity-Main Track-
    02:18
[SCORE: Life Is Chaos] [Neutral Activity / Reflective] More Minimalism. Measured, definitive bed of both mathematical and human elements that suggests the passage of time, a crucial decision being made or evoking images of cells dividing and multiplying. An odd-metered bed of gentle electronic pulses creates a meditative environment with a piano, in @:10, adding a human, compassionate feel. A hint of melody begins @:21 and continues intermittently throughout. Good for news and scientific documentaries.
  • 28.
    The Sacrifice-Main Track-
    01:27
[SCORE: Life Is Chaos] [Sad / Reflective Hope] Tragic, yet proud, cut that would work for memorials, when important people go "paws up", and even reflecting on the sacrifices of others. Slow tempo, measured string sections create a slow ascent (in both pitch and tenor) to a climax @:45, where trumpets subtly herald the fallen heroes.
  • 29.
    Battle of Wills-Main Track-
    02:55
[SCORE: Life Is Chaos] [Tense Activity] Techno cut that suggests tense chases, plans being made and intrigue. This cut combines ethnic Egyptian percussion and stringed instruments (ouds) with modern Electronic beds, including drum machines and filtered / arpeggiated synths. This cut utilizes several breaks and also provides the bed in a variety of mixes, including a synth-only break @:51 and an acoustic percussion break @1:50.
  • 30.
    Life is Chaos-Main Track-
    03:16
[SCORE: Life Is Chaos] [Building Light Tension] Pulsing, slightly subdued bed that starts with delayed, electronic basses and metallic sound design - adding a heavy electronic kick & mechanical percussion (@:12) and slightly minor / sad strings (@:23) to create end credit music with a heartbeat-like bed (with tinges of loss) appropriate for sad events unfolding (or their aftermath) or medical / science stories with a human factor. The strings offer a second, more hopeful iteration of the theme @2:19, ending @2:39, allowing the piece to end with a bed of electronic basses and metallic sound design, similar to the open, but fuller and adding a distant tolling bell.
  • 31.
    Sunrise Over the Rockies-Main Track-
    01:50
[SCORE: Sunrise Over the Rockies] [Build to Proud Positive Activity] Positive pride that provides movement and drive. Imagine the sun slowly peaking over the majestic hills of the Rockies (a high string bed underneath tentative solo French horn and flute) - only to explode in a brash, proud splash of light @:21 (communicated by brass and percussion). @:53, driving strings and percussion create a moving bed for woodwinds to carry the theme, building to a climactic ending @1:46. Great for positive world news, suggesting light industriousness and overcoming the odds.
  • 32.
    Grand Canyon-Main Track-
    02:02
[SCORE: Sunrise Over the Rockies] [Neutral Movement Positive, Sweeping] A trip through the Grand Canyon in three movements: From busy motion to grand pride to romantic heartstring-pulling appreciation of its beauty. Fast string marCato (ASCAP)s start the piece, providing a dense, movement-laden emotionally-neutral bed that, @:40, bursts into a, brass-led full orchestral iteration of the theme suggesting pride & providing edit-friendly percussive hits for added drama. The mood changes @1:20 as the strings take the lead melody, providing a more sensitive, gentle variation.
  • 33.
    River Ranch-Main Track-
    02:23
[SCORE: Sunrise Over the Rockies] [Playful, Energetic] Orchestral hoe down. this cut provides a lot of positive, driving energy with tons of percussive accents and dynamics. A bed of light, playful strings and piano provide a bed for hints of the main theme carried by various orchestral sections. The mix gets more driving and hit-laden @1:36, returning to a lighter feel @1:50. A faster-feeling percussive build to a climax begins @2:05 and ends @2:18. Great for industrials, light news, portraying activity or just being proud without being too serious.
  • 34.
    Tornado-Main Track-
    02:20
[SCORE: Sunrise Over the Rockies] [Suspenseful Action Aftermath] There's a storm a'comin, evidenced by a growing bed of tremolando strings, glockenspiel and accelerating timpani. By :27, heavy winds have arrived. @1:15 the alarms sound and the bed becomes rife with Psycho-like metallic hits, orchestral stabs / percussion and brass swells. @1:29 it's literally the calm before the storm. The feces hits the fan @1:42 as frantic hits and dissonant string stabs create the impression of cattle, farm houses and Helen Hunt being pulled into large funnels of destruction. @1:52 we witness the aftermath of the storm as the string arpeggios and piano slowly wind down to a low, droning note.
  • 35.
    Young Love-Main Track-
    01:57
[SCORE: Sunrise Over the Rockies] [Rustic, Reflective Proud] A Waltzing, simple but beautiful Bluegrass-esque melody creates a scene of pastoral elegance as we overlook fields of waving flowers and backgrounds of striking mountains. Starting with slow, simple pizziCato (ASCAP) strings, string pads and lead fiddle - the cut blossoms @:41 as oboe and piano provide a swirling bridge to 1:12 when the melody is carried up by the full string section and the brass and winds provide a huge flood of emotion that suggests magnificent beauty and places that don't have a Wal-Mart. Great for proud moments and nature documentaries.
  • 36.
    Fertile Valley-Main Track-
    03:05
[SCORE: Sunrise Over the Rockies] [Proud, Positive / Playful] Tribute to the American cowboys and the westward expansion that varies from driving, percussive bouts of fun and positivity to softer, more heart-warming / emotional moments as evidenced by the more melodic, lilting sections starting @:41 and 1:35. A light bed (starting @2:07) builds into the piece's emotional climax - where the final, fullest version of the theme enters @2:25 and has a very odd ending, letting the mix slowly pare down from 2:41 to the spare, subdued final harp / glockenspiel hit @3:03. Great for invoking stereotypical patriotic themes, proud news opens, lighter sports footage and politics.
  • 37.

    03:43
[SCORE: Sunrise Over the Rockies] [Triumphant / Positive] A piece that invokes pride and good feeling, all with some startling dynamics. Great for stories that need a build and an emotional / percussive orgasm at the end.
